The Jairus Agency (pronounced "jy-rus") strives to reduce juvenile delinquency through prevention methods and intervention efforts, while also providing opportunity for restitution through community service.
Youths discover the benefits of giving, while learning to value themselves and their community through proven strategies and modeled behaviors.
JSFP is a fun, hands-on program where parents/guardians and youth participate together, building on their strengths as a family, learning new skills, and developing a network of other strong families in the community.
The Jairus Teen Twelve Step group is geared specifically for young people struggling with addictions - and not just substance abuse, but any type of behavior that controls them, whether it be anger, eating disorders, self-injury, or drug use. It is a confidential, judgement-free place that emphasizes honesty, responsibility, and accountability.
Community service gives young people the opportunity to make restitution for past mistakes, and to understand that these mistakes do not define them as a person. While this act of "service" is initially viewed as a punishment, many young people who follow through and fullfill their mandated hours consider it a turning point in their lives, because through serving, they discover a fundamental truth that is not often imparted to them from today's society - that it is truly better to give than receive.
Lauren's story -
Teen 12-step Group
"During the process of the 12 step group, I have worked out a lot of problems in my life. The counselors that help me, and the others, through are excellent. It may seem a little too intense in the beginning, but as you follow through with the group and you put effort into it yourself, you get a lot out of it and make new friends during the process."
